I’d like to tell you about a book that I wrote a number of years ago.
Between the years 1995-2003, I traveled extensively in the former Soviet Union, where I spoke in a lot of churches, Bible schools, and seminars. I was working for a Swedish Christian organization called Operation Jabotinsky. We were encouraging and teaching the local churches to understand and work with the Jewish people, and to help Jewish migrants who desired to make aliyah, or move to the land of Israel.
To that end, we had seminars with participants from several local churches in a given area. We typically gathered for three days of fellowship, prayer, and teaching. Some of the teachers were “professionals” from, e.g., the Jewish Agency, but we actually managed to conduct the majority of our teaching by ourselves.
Personally, one of my favorite subjects during those years was to teach about the history of Zionism and the State of Israel. I took the students on a journey starting in 1882, with the “First Aliyah,” and all the way up to the current days. I showed them how the state came into existence, how they survived the massive attacks launched against them, and how they have evolved into the smallest “superpower” the world has ever seen. I also shared all the difficulties and anti-Semitism that they have faced, and some of them started crying when I described the atrocities committed against the Jews in the European Holocaust.
A few years later, I launched a project that was far more time-consuming than I had imagined. For eighteen months, from November 2007 to May 2009, I completed the job of writing down the story of the State of Israel in a book. Upon its launch in Norway in the summer of 2009, it was immediately hailed as a great book by several critics. The Norwegian publishing house that printed the first hardcover edition of the book sold out their 3,000 copies in a few years, and five years later I published my own cheaper paperback edition.
Due to demand, the Norwegian publishing house printed another edition of the book in the beginning of 2025, and later that same year, I managed to translate and publish the book in the Swedish language. And in May this year, after lots of work, I finally managed to publish an English translation of the book.
TheEnglish and Swedish editions in paperback and epub are for sale through my own Swedish language store at www.himmelbok.se, as well as Amazon and most other book stores
